Pastor Gregory Nelson
Pastor Gregory Nelson, son of Joseph and Mireille Nelson was born and raised in one of New York’s largest cities, Brooklyn, New York. Early in life, Pastor Nelson was taught to love the Lord and that love affair continues today. In his personal and professional life, Pastor Nelson lives by the mantra, “take care of God’s business and He will take care of yours.”
His early childhood education began at the Hebron SDA Bilingual School in the Northeastern Conference. Following Hebron, Gregory attended James Madison High school.
Responding to God’s call and in order to adequately prepare for ministry, Pastor Nelson left the familiar streets of Brooklyn, New York in August 1998 for the lush pastures of the Mecca of Black Adventism, Oakwood College in Huntsville, Alabama. Upon arriving and enrolling, Gregory demonstrated the kind of devotion to learning that would define his collegiate career which includes awards and accolades for having the highest GPA in the freshman class and sustained membership on the National Dean’s List of America. While at Oakwood, Pastor Nelson was invited to serve on the pastoral staff of the Madison Mission Seventh-day Adventist Church where he served 2 years as the assistant youth pastor under the leadership of Dr. James R. Doggette.
In May 2002, after leaving Oakwood, Pastor Nelson returned to his hometown of Brooklyn New York, where he served three years as the youth pastor for the Kingsboro Temple of Seventh-day Adventists located in the Park slope section of Brooklyn.
Leaving Kingsboro, Pastor Nelson went on to accept a call from the Allegheny East Conference to serve as the pastor for youth and young adults at the Dupont Park Seventh-day Adventist Church in Washington, D.C. under the leadership of Dr. Emil Dean Peeler. Currently, Pastor Nelson serves as Capitol Hill Church's Associate Pastor.
In addition to his pastoral functions, Pastor Nelson is a multi-faceted minister, internationally recognized as worship leader, motivational/seminar speaker, preacher and evangelist. To his credit, Pastor Nelson has also demonstrated proficiency as a writer, choir director, producer, concert promoter, conference organizer and chaplain. Pastor Nelson is married the former, Carla Noel of Brooklyn New York and they are the proud parents of their son, Evan Gregory Nelson.
Pastor Nelson credits all that he has and has attained to the Lord’s leading in his life and ministry, which he says, “is incontrovertible proof that those whose are faithful in taking care of the Lord’s business will never fail to have Him take care of theirs.”
Pastor Nelson may be reached by email here or by calling the church's main office at 202-543-1344.
